Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement (COPE)
The International Journal of Intelligent Computing and Engineering Sciences (IJICES) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, research integrity, and responsible scholarly communication. The journal expects all authors, editors, reviewers, and other individuals involved in the publication process to adhere to recognized principles of academic integrity and ethical publishing. IJICES follows the general principles and guidance established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when addressing ethical issues, suspected misconduct, and concerns relating to the integrity of published research.
Authors submitting manuscripts to IJICES are responsible for ensuring that their work is original, has not been published previously, and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal. Authors must accurately report their research, present findings honestly, and provide sufficient information to allow the work to be understood and, where applicable, reproduced. All sources, ideas, data, methods, figures, tables, and other contributions obtained from previous work must be appropriately acknowledged and cited. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, substantial self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and manipulation of research results are considered serious violations of publication ethics.
Authors are also responsible for ensuring appropriate authorship and acknowledgment. Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research and who have participated in the preparation or critical revision of the manuscript. Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet authorship requirements should be appropriately acknowledged. All listed authors should approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission and publication.
Authors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation. Where applicable, information concerning funding sources, institutional support, conflicts of interest, ethical approval, and other relevant declarations should be provided with the manuscript. Authors are expected to obtain appropriate ethical approval and informed consent where required by the nature of the research.
The editorial team of IJICES is responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are handled fairly, confidentially, and objectively. Editorial decisions are based on the scholarly quality, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, and ethical compliance of the manuscript rather than on the author's nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, religion, or other personal characteristics. Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and should not use unpublished information obtained through the editorial process for personal or professional advantage.
Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, constructively, and confidentially. They should identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited and should notify the editors of any suspected plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other ethical concerns. Reviewers must disclose potential conflicts of interest and should not participate in the review of manuscripts where such conflicts could compromise their impartiality.
IJICES considers research and publication misconduct to include, but not be limited to, plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, duplicate or redundant publication, inappropriate manipulation of images or research results, citation manipulation, authorship misconduct, undisclosed conflicts of interest, peer-review manipulation, and unethical research practices. Allegations of misconduct may be investigated by the editorial team in accordance with appropriate publication-ethics procedures and available COPE guidance.
When an ethical concern or allegation of misconduct is raised, IJICES may request relevant information or documentation from the authors, reviewers, institutions, or other appropriate parties. Depending on the nature and seriousness of the concern, the journal may take appropriate editorial action, which may include requesting corrections, issuing an expression of concern, rejecting a manuscript, or retracting a published article. Where necessary, the journal may communicate with the relevant institution or other responsible authority.
If a significant error is identified in a published article, authors are expected to cooperate with the journal in correcting the scholarly record. Corrections or other post-publication notices will be linked to the original article where appropriate. Retraction will be considered when the reliability or integrity of the published findings is substantially compromised by misconduct, serious error, or other circumstances consistent with recognized publication-ethics practices.
IJICES is committed to maintaining a responsible and trustworthy scholarly publishing environment. All participants in the publication process are expected to cooperate in good faith and to uphold the principles of honesty, transparency, accountability, confidentiality, and respect for research integrity. The journal may update its ethical policies and procedures as recognized standards and guidance from organizations such as COPE develop.
