Generative Artificial Intelligence Policy

IJICES recognizes that generative artificial intelligence tools may assist researchers with language improvement, coding, data analysis, literature organization, and other research-related tasks. Their use must remain transparent, responsible, and consistent with research integrity.

Disclosure by Authors

Authors must disclose substantive use of generative AI tools in preparing a manuscript when such use affects the research, analysis, interpretation, code, figures, or manuscript content. The disclosure should identify the tool and explain its role. Routine spelling and grammar assistance need not be disclosed unless required by the journal's instructions or relevant ethical standards.

Human Accountability

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Human authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, citations, research methods, data integrity, and ethical compliance of all submitted content, including AI-assisted material.

Authors must independently verify AI-generated statements, references, calculations, code, and interpretations. Fabricated references, misleading outputs, and unverified claims are unacceptable.

Research Data and Confidentiality

Authors, reviewers, and editors must not upload confidential manuscripts, unpublished research, personal data, or restricted information to external AI systems in ways that violate confidentiality, privacy, consent, or applicable agreements.

Peer Review and Editorial Decisions

Reviewers must not delegate confidential manuscript review to AI systems without explicit authorization under the journal's procedures. Editorial decisions remain the responsibility of human editors and must not be delegated solely to automated systems.

Misuse

Undisclosed or inappropriate AI use that compromises originality, accuracy, confidentiality, or research integrity may lead to clarification requests, revision, rejection, or post-publication action where justified.

IJICES may update this policy as research practices and recognized publishing standards evolve.
